What is an FRC? |
|
(excerpt from the BC Association of Family Resource Programs pamphlet) An FRC is an Family Resource Centre or Family Resource Program that is a community-based family support programs reflecting the local needs of families in Prince George. Services and activities vary from program to program, but the focus is on prevention and the promotion of family well-being. Our Family Resource Centre takes pride in providing programs and services specific to the needs of our community. We conduct community surveys, encourage feedback from our clients and research opportunities that will enhance our community members of all ages! Many programs provided are free to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to learn, share and grow. Many family programs focus on young children (ages 0-6 yrs) and their parents/caregivers, however, as we grow, we continue to look at opportunities to provide activities for all ages. Activities/supports include: · PowerPlay Drop-in Program (0-5 yrs) · Peer Counseling/Referrals · Community Kitchen · Parenting Courses · Baby Wellness Program · Prenatal programs · Children’s Workshops · Young Parent Programs · Non-Crisis Support · Toy & Resource Libraries
The South Fort George Family Resource Centre is open to all families in Prince George and areas. Feel free to stop by and take a tour. Go to our Events Calendar to see upcoming workshops and program schedules. |
